Getting Rid of The Evidence

Yesterday while on the checkout line at the supermarket I got a sweet tooth so I grabbed a Twix and added it to my items. The cashier asked if I wanted it in the bag or in my hand, I told her I would take it for easy access she smiled and said "just make sure you get rid of the evidence before you get home". I smiled and said "thank you for reminding me of that". That statement flooded my mind with memories of a very familiar state of mind which took place when I was living a self-destructive lifestyle.

I remember going to the fast food restaurant of choice, buying food and eating it in the car and then (drum roll please) yup you guessed it; I got rid of the evidence before I got home.  I know you're probably thinking how terrible that is but it gets even worst, I would go home and still have dinner as normal, as if I had not just stuffed my face with onion rings, a fat burger and a soda to wash it all down.

I was lying to my loved ones, or was I really? I was hiding this destructive lifestyle from them but my actions told a different story, not participating in my children's lives, being sick all the time, in pain all over and just all around miserable. This was such a good reminder of a lifestyle that I do not want to be a part of again and it felt good to know that I have chosen to change it.  I was trapped in a cocoon, still living, dark with very little room to move waiting for the moment to see the light that will change my life and turn me into the butterfly that I was meant to be.

Are you getting rid of the evidence? Remember the only person being fooled is YOU because the outcome of your actions speaks louder than any lie you tell yourself.

The Moral of the Story: Put the burger down and become that beautiful butterfly.

Happy Saturday my beautiful people.

  2. You give me hope! I still have this destructive lifestyle at times, though I'm getting better. The fact that you, being into fitness now, used to engage in this behavior, gives me hope that, if I want to, I can improve!

  3. Yup, that's so me at times. Just getting rid of the evidence, not making a change :/

  4. If I indulge, which is ok, I just walk faster on my walk. I also eat healthy 80% of the day.

  6. I have hid things before, but you're right, they always come out in one form or another. Love the advice to put the burger down. ;)
