On October of 2011 I was diagnosed with Diabetes at 38 years young. I remember sitting in the doctor's office crying as the doctor dictated my newly discovered life threatening disease, he did not sugar coat it, he told me that if I wasn't as fat that I would not have gotten it until much later in life. This "fat" at that time was 225lbs. ouch, yes and at 5'1 that was not a fun weight to be. I walked out of the office, prescription on hand and vowed to make a change and fight this disease. However, that conviction lasted but a few weeks and I was forced to take medication in order to control my diabetes since healthy eating and exercise were NOT an option for me at the time, well of course they were but I had all the excuses in the world.
Although I did not change my ways, I was very unhappy with myself, with the way I looked and the way I felt. My self esteem was a negative 500, I was tired all the time, ached all over, had dizzy spells all the time, my feet hurt, well you get the picture, the list is endless. On November of 2012 I finally just did it, I decided that I was going to begin to eat healthy and armed with Google and common sense I began my journey. I have since lost 55lbs. and with many more to go, I have participated in two 5K's one Mud Run and am in the best shape of my life, all within a year.
There are still struggles in my
journey on a daily basis but I know that the lifestyle that I now live
is the one God meant for me to live and although my journey has no end,
I want to help YOU become that person God intended YOU to be.
Lets
embark in this journey together, but I must warn you it is a bumpy
ride and there are no shortcuts but the sweet taste of success will
make all the hard work worth it. I guarantee you without a doubt that
your life will change in every aspect for the better.
I hope I can inspire you and help you in some way.
