Changing things up

My fitness journey has taken me to places I never thought I would go and I enjoy every new venture as if it were my first.  A big piece of the healthy lifestyle puzzle is obviously to keep active, to keep your body moving and repetition but doing the same thing can become mundane.

I have found that the key for me is to change things up whenever possible, trying different things like zumba, crossfit, strength training, running with my latest venture being bike riding.

I went out and bought myself a bike and pimped it out to suit my needs and I even named it Carmela after my grandmother Carmen who learned how to ride bike as an adult.  I remember how determined she was when she decided to learn to ride, she was so determined, practiced every afternoon and by the end of a week she was riding like a pro.

My first ride was about 13 miles and according to my heart rate monitor I burned approximately 1,100 calories.  I really enjoy riding, it is so pleasant that it does not feel like a workout and quite frankly I can go for hours.

The reason why I share this with you is because I want to encourage you to try different things, things that will keep you motivated, interested but most importantly things that will keep that body moving.  What are you doing to keep busy?
